- [Instructor] When you work with formulas that get data 2 from other worksheets within the same workbook, 3 you might need to rely upon a not so well known function 4 called indirect. 5 In this workbook, we've got various tabs 6 for the seven most populous states. 7 As I click on the California sheet, 8 notice that the total is in cell G7. 9 That's also true in Texas 10 and all the other states as well too. 11 So on this total sheet, what we want to do is to show 12 that sales total here. 13 If I were doing California only, 14 I would do it in the following way. 15 In cell B2, type equal, click on the California sheet, 16 select cell G7, press enter, and sure enough, there it is. 17 If I happen to drag this down into the next cell, 18 this formula, this first formula that picks up data 19 from the California sheet cell G7 20 simply picks up data from the same sheet, but in G8. 21 Now it occurs to me as I'm looking…
