- One of the first issues I like to tackle is the general exposure. Remember, the order of operations is fix exposure first and color second. That's because as you adjust exposure, things like the saturation of the image will be affected. I generally find it's a lot easier to do things in the right order. So let's tackle the first problem. Let's start by selecting the first frame here and take a look over in the metadata panel to get familiar with the shot. Now here I see some details about the properties here. For example, I can tell that this was captured at about 35 millimeters, but it was on a crop sensor, which effectively made it behave at about 50. Additionally, I see we were a little overexposed. This was because of the shadows on the rocks. I didn't want to crush those details. But I'm trying to balance that with the overall exposure here in the sky.
