Connect Bluetooth devices to Chromecast with Google TV

You can connect several Bluetooth devices like headphones or speakers to your Chromecast with Google TV. After setup, you can connect to your devices with Fast Pair.  You can only connect one audio device at a time.

Pair a Bluetooth device

Before you begin, make sure your device is in pairing mode and visible to other devices.

  1. From the home screen on your TV, select your Google Account Settings.
  2. Select Remote & Accessories Pair remote or accessory.
  3. Select the device you want to pair from the list shown.
  4. On the Bluetooth pairing request screen, select Pair.
  5. Accessories you’ve paired to your device appear in the “Remote & Accessories” section of Settings, where you can rename or forget devices.

Connect Fast Pair devices

Note: Fast Pair only applies to compatible devices like certain headphones.

Some Bluetooth devices (such as certain headphones and speakers) support Fast Pair, which simplifies the pairing process. To connect these devices, put your Bluetooth device into pairing mode. When your device appears on your Chromecast, use the remote to select Connect.

  • For Pixel Buds, check the pairing instructions in the Help Center.
  • For other devices, check the user manual for specific instructions.

After you’ve paired a Fast Pair-enabled accessory, it automatically detects and connects to your Chromecast with Google TV. Fast Pair also associates your Bluetooth accessory with your Google Account. You can easily pair them to other devices and switch between devices.

Fast Pair devices that have previously been paired to other devices synced to your Google Account will automatically show in a notification when they detect a compatible device.

  • Use your remote to follow the directions on screen to connect your device.

Troubleshoot Bluetooth devices connections

If your Bluetooth device won't connect, it could be an issue with the Bluetooth device or your Chromecast.

  1. Turn off your Bluetooth device, then turn it back on. After your device resets, try to pair it again.
  2. If you have multiple devices paired with your TV, disconnect the ones you're not using.
    • The issue might be with your Bluetooth device. Try to connect a different Bluetooth device to check if that one works.
  3. Unplug your Chromecast for 10 seconds, then plug it back in. After it turns back on, try to pair the device again.
  4. Check if your Bluetooth device connects to other devices, such as a phone or tablet.
    • If your device connects to other devices: Reset your Chromecast to factory settings.
    • If your device doesn't connect to other devices: Check your Bluetooth device has up-to-date software or get help from your device's manufacturer.
