If setup still doesn't work, try the following steps:

  1. Reboot your Chromecast.
  2. Unplug your router and plug it back in.
  3. Factory reset your Chromecast.
  4. Contact support.

You get the message "Please use Gmail account"

This message might appear during setup if you're using a Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) account. A Gmail account is strongly recommended instead, as it allows personalization and ensures your Chromecast with Google TV can access your media services.

To dismiss the message, tap Ok. You can then decide to continue setup with the same account or start setup again with a new account.

Note: If you proceed with a Google Workspace account of which you're not an administrator, some services such as app installation, YouTube, or parental controls might be unavailable or behave unexpectedly.

Important: For the best experience, we recommend that you use the remote included with your device. Some features like Find My Remote and creating a shortcut with the Customizable button only work with Google TV Streamer.
