We buy a range of toilet papers from bamboo to cheap 1,000-sheet rolls. This stuff is on the softer end of the range. Softer and pricier. Seems like the rolls do not last very long. It's just one of the types that we buy.

Toilet paper is toilet paper, and there aren't a lot of details I can go into regarding the plot twists (it's toilet paper) or the user-friendly interface (all toilet paper is user-friendly. If it asks you to install drivers, it's probably not toilet paper). I can say that this toilet paper is soft, comfortable, and meets the same good standards of eco-friendliness that I've come to expect from Seventh Generation products. Buying this bulk size has saved me a lot of money, and the package of 24 rolls has lasted me about a year. (Note: I'm usually the only person using the toilet paper. Particularly if you're buying for a household of six, your mileage may vary considerably.) Unlike many other products, toilet paper doesn't go bad if you store it for a year before using it, so if you have even a little extra space, there's no reason not to buy in bulk.

It's great. I plan to buy it again. And... it's toilet paper, so that's about all I can say.

This TP is all-natural and good for the environment. It is also the only roll that fits my pre-war toilet paper dispenser in my old NYC tenement — all the rolls out there seem to be supersized. My only wish is that the paper would be a little softer. It's not rough by any means like public restroom paper but perhaps because it is recycled the texture is a bit more... unrefined (?) I like that it is fragrance-free and chemical-free.
Reviewed in the United States on July 27, 2022
I like all the Seventh Generation products I use. It's nice that the TP is made from recycled paper and it gets the job done. I often watch for deals on this since it's a 48 roll purchase. Such deals hit just before Covid did, so while the store shelves were empty and prices were raising, I was sitting pretty on a case and a partial. No need to find sub par alternatives or buy Imodium to wait out the shortages. I also use there laundry detergent and dish soap off and on, but I always like to have their TP in stock at the house.
Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2017
I have very sensitive skin that reacts to bleach; so this toilet paper keeps my skin calm and I suffer no irritations.

Other toilet papers caused me a lot of pain and discomfort because of the bleach to whiten and the formaldehyde added to thicken the paper. Seventh Generation doesn't add either.

I first tried Seventh Generation's Unbleached Toilet Paper but it is too rough on my sensitive skin though it was still better than other toilet papers because there were no chemicals in it to give me an allergic reaction.

This toilet paper is so much softer than the unbleached toilet paper and even though there are 100 less sheets per roll than the unbleached; a roll lasts me the same amount of time. I believe it is because this toilet paper is much thicker and more absorbent than the unbleached toilet paper. Plus the unbleached toilet paper is way more expensive at $43 for 48 rolls.

From now on my family will be buying this toilet paper and I am glad that everyone is happy with this toilet paper.

i am no soft toilet paper aficionado, so i cannot speak to the merits of wiping with heavenly silken clouds versus heavy grit emery cloth.

i did however notice that my recently delivered order of (4 packages@12 rolls each) 7th generation tp comprised rolls of 240 sheets as opposed to the 300 sheet rolls i'd historically received.

this matters to me because i use the stuff for more than just polishing my bum – i sneeze into it, blow my nose into it, use it for various cleaning duties that do not require the stoutness of a paper towel, et cetera.

comparing my 14 july order of this stuff with my 21 december order, i find that both claim 4"x4" sheets; both claim to have been 100% recycled, and to have a minimum of 50% post consumer recycled content; both take up the same amount of space in the hall closet.

contrasting them i find that the 14 july order cost $33.80, and the 21 december 2017 price is $28.96. this reflects a 14% lower price for 20% less sheets.

but wait, it gets more weird – the new stuff has more pronounced embossing or texturing, and appears to be more loosely rolled to maintain the diameter of the packaged product.

now for the true nerd nonsense: i actually weighed eight rolls from each of the two selections and came up with an average weight of 98.4375 grams per roll for the old stuff, and 102.525 grams per roll of the new stuff. this means paying 14% less for 4% more weight.

i am not about to strip the rolls and weigh the tubes, but deforming them at the ends of the full rolls, the tubes seem pretty consistent between the two shipments of shpinc wipes.

conclusion?

too much spare time.

the price on this crapwrap fluctuates so frequently that none of this likely means much.

i guess the takeaway is that maybe 7th gen has responded to some of the complaints by fattening the sheets and reducing the count.

(UPDATE) it's august of 2018, and in the eight months since i put up this review a couple of more shipments of this stuff have come in. the inconsistencies continue.

the price still fluctuates wildly, and both the width and thickness have varied, though the heavily embossed thing went away. of course i also do not know how long one or another of these cases have been sitting in some warehouse from a previous generation of the product.

i have not bothered to do the weighing thing again because i am confident that doing so a dozen more times would not reveal a trend in any direction

i guess the only long term trend one could anticipate would be that the price will go up and the quality will go down – just like everything else (except microprocessors).

They plant trees guys! So my favorite tp is Scott regular old school tp but SEVENTH GENERATION I LOVE EVEN MORE NOW! Besides all they give back, it is really good Tp. Not super soft like those other flaky blands... This is durable, with a touch of softness and you don't have to use a ton to get the job done!
Overall the best quality, value and you literally are helping the planet wipe by wipe ;)!!
Cost wise they can be pricey, however I found thru subscribe and save, 4 packs of 12 (48 total rolls) for 22.98! Even though the cross out price is $34! So search and search till you find the best deal for you and your tp needs!

5.0 out of 5 stars Strong, soft, lasts 3x longer than other brands
Reviewed in Canada on July 12, 2017
This product is very expensive compared to others, but after using it for almost five months I have to admit that it is worth the higher price for these reasons:
1. It feels soft. I recall when we first started using it that it felt different from other brands, but I can't even remember what the difference was.
2. It is strong. Other brands I have used fall apart as you are using them, which makes you use even more. This one has never fallen apart; no bad surprises, even when using just two squares.
3. It lasts a lot longer than others. Once you get used to how strong it is, you will find yourself using less. On top of that, each roll has nearly twice the number of sheets as other so-called "double rolls". When you put those two together, I figure these rolls last 2-4 times longer than other brands. We have a big family, and my best estimate is that these are lasting about 3x longer per roll than any other brand. If I divide the price by three, then the cost is about the same as other brands.
4. It is 100% recycled, which makes your conscience feel good.
5. It does not cause any problems in the sewer pipes. Our house is old and has small-ish pipes. We were having troubles with the pipes becoming clogged every couple of months. I wondered if using these would help, and so far we have not had any problems.

So overall, yes it is expensive, but I recommend these and will keep using them in our home.

I should have expected this product to be wrapped in plastic based on the picture, but I was still disappointment when it turned up in so much disposable packaging. I would love if Seventh Generation would go the paper wrapping route like many bulk supply companies do for restaurants/ hotels/ etc. It feels like the environmental benefits of the product are negated by the plastic packaging...
