- [Instructor] Creating maps in Tableau is a fairly straightforward process, but there are some things that you need to know. Therefore, I wanted to take a movie to walk you through the process of creating a map before getting into more detail. My sample file is 1101 Create Map, and you can find it in the Chapter 11 folder of the exercise files collection. I have a blank workbook, and over in the sidebar you can see that I have three geographic fields and those are indicated by what looks like a globe to the left of the field name. So I have city, state, and zip code. I'm going to focus on state and zip code when I create my map. So let's look at state first. And my goal is to identify only those states from which I have gotten sales. So I'll go over to the sidebar and double click the state field pill. And you can see that my map has been populated.
