- [Instructor] The Raspberry Pi operating system is based on Debian, a version of Linux. Did you know that there is more than one type of Linux? Debian is one, but there's also Ubuntu, Fedora, FreeBSD. Tracking sites list more than 250 others, and more show up every year. Ubuntu is a popular Linux distribution, and has been available for the Raspberry Pi, but installing and running a desktop version has been challenging. Now, Ubuntu desktop is available through the Raspberry Pi imager. It's easy to install, almost as easy as the Raspberry Pi OS itself.
