- Raspbian, like most Linux operating system, relies on CUPS to install and manage printers. CUPS can be confusing. Fortunately, the Raspberry Pi Foundation recently updated Raspbian to include a GUI to select and manage printers. In this episode of Raspberry Pi Weekly, let's take a look at how this new tool works and how it makes it easier to connect a printer to your Raspberry PI. Hi, I'm Mark Niemann-Ross and welcome to this week's edition of Raspberry Pi Weekly. Every week we explore the Raspberry Pi and share useful tips. This new printing tool is part of an update released in December of 2020. If you haven't upgraded to this version, it's easy to do so. Open up a terminal window, type in sudo apt update. If you haven't upgraded your Raspberry Pi lately this may take much longer than it did for me. The next step is to initiate the upgrade and to do that type in sudo apt full-upgrade.
