When bullets are necessary
- [Instructor] Yes, it is true that bullet points get a bad reputation in PowerPoint. That said, there will be times when bullet points are perfectly appropriate depending on the nature of the content you are communicating. And for this, let's stop for a moment and think about what bullet points really are. They are a list. I don't know about you but I write lists every time I go to the grocery store. If I don't, I end up spending twice as much time and money than necessary. So in essence, the list is for memory and time management. But lists can be a little bit more than that. Lists are often used to weigh options or to help organize ideas, to solidify structures, or the steps necessary for short or long-term planning. Lists can help you prioritize or brain-dump complex ideas. Have you ever been stuck on an idea until you write it down? Yeah, your audience is no different.
