- [Instructor] Dispose of any data and assets properly. You should have a policy in place to retire physical items, such as computers, laptops, mobile devices, printers, copiers or fax machines. Dumpster diving is done, sometimes as someone might feel that they found some tasty trash. Invest in shredders. Have one on every floor. Here are a couple of resources to properly dispose of media. I'm at the irs.gov website and I'll scroll down and it talks about media sanitation methods. Now we'll scroll down and we'll see the media type and it lists different media types, floppy disks, magnetic tapes, CDs, DVDs and how they are destroyed. Now you might think that floppy disks aren't used anymore, but they may be found in an organization and you should take steps to do something with them. Overwrite them, incinerate or shred them and remove anything that potentially could be leaked out. CDs, DVDs, optical disc grinding…
