- Congratulations, you got the promotion. You're probably thrilled and maybe a little bit nervous. Now remember, you wouldn't have gotten promoted if the people on top didn't think you were ready or ready enough. Now it can be tempting to scream your joy from the rooftops, but before you go updating your LinkedIn page, take a moment to think about how you can step into this promotion with grace. You want to be sensitive to those around you who didn't get promoted, and when you find out you got promoted, meet with your boss to determine how the promotion will be announced. Your boss may ask you to keep the information private for now, especially if someone on your team was hopeful of that promotion. You need to respect that and keep the information to yourself.
