- One way to run a great meeting is to stop trying to do everything yourself. Take a cue from my background in the theater, have a stage manager. Here's some of the responsibilities of a stage manager. To help share the agenda in advance, making sure that everyone who's going to be there understands what's going to be covered in the meeting ahead of time. They set up the room. If there's discussion, the chairs are in a circle. If the table is needed, it's there, if it's not, it's gone away. They can also do the tech check. Make sure the dongle's there, the slide deck is loaded, the microphone is on. They may also set up drinks and snacks, pens and paper, pipe cleaners, things to fiddle with, whatever's required. They will also monitor attendance. And if someone is delayed or not present, they can go track that person down while you start the meeting promptly and on time, as usual.
