- [Instructor] A fully coordinated construction BIM where a building design is digitally constructed before construction actually begins is a benefit for the construction team by working out any constructability issues before they happen in the field. While solving constructability issues digitally instead of with physical material labor can create tangible value, it also creates an opportunity for robotic automation. Because the digital elements have location, they can be converted into commands to install similar to converting the line drawings to directions for a CNC machine or a laser cutter to follow. Leveraging BIM data for automation of construction can range from the machining of materials for installation to the more futuristic robots moving autonomously like workers.
