I have found that it’s important to embrace current trends, whilst trying to predict what might happen in the future. There are many ways to do the. You can monitor what you see, in terms of usage, samples requests and specifications, and record the data over a period of time , to see what is likely to stay a trend for a while. This gives you an idea of short term future expectations. For example in the solid surface industry the tendency has been for specifications to be white with a black vein, however this is now becoming less, and we are seeing a lot more specifications for terrazzo colours and pink. There are other ways to monitor, including being aware of Pantone colour of the year, Dulux colour of the year, WGSN colour etc
