Van life often framed as adventurous lifestyle decision now a housing decision for many

Van life has become a popular, if necessary, choice of accommodation

The Covid inquiry over the last few weeks has transported people back to that uncomfortable tunnel of time. A time of great sadness and pain for many, and a time where we now see banana bread baking and home yoga as little more than passing trends.

Against the backdrop of the inquiry, I was again reminded of all the ways that our lives have been transformed by the pandemic when I came to know of two more people who were packing it in for the van-based life. You may remember “van life” as one of those viral internet trends during lockdown, with campervan conversions going through the roof. I now know a significant number of people who are living in vans post-lockdown, and many also at various stages of their “van conversion” journeys.
