The ABSOLUTE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER trying to get a refund! Travel Guard and Expedia are HORRIBLE just there to take your money and make you jump through every hoop to avoid issuing a refund. Let alone, how the heck do you even submit a claim form? I have asked multiple times for a claim form, only to be sent to the claims site, and now my claim doesn't even register! Nor do I have any flight credits on my Expedia account.

Travel Guard did not honor my request for a refund, made impossible demands nor answer adequately nor timely. I would never use them again.

What a terrible company to deal with ! I’m in the hospital needing radiation , cant understand the service person an it takes 6 weeks to get a refund which is such bullshit. I have to pay for a new flight the following week and fight for a refund !! They suck and are a scam

AVOID AIG TRAVEL INSURANCE – IT'S A LEGAL SCAM

I purchased travel insurance from AIG through Hotels.com on April 2, 2025, for a hotel reservation worth over $1,000. Due to a bus transportation failure, I missed the hotel completely. AIG denied my claim, saying it wasn’t a “covered peril.” I appealed and was denied again — no phone number, no real person, just cold automated emails.

I never received the full policy until after the issue, and it turns out their coverage is so narrow it’s practically useless. No empathy, no service, no protection.

This feels like a legalized scam: you pay for peace of mind, and when something goes wrong, they disappear. I warn others — do not trust AIG Travel Guard. You're better off with nothing than with their false sense of security.

I cannot believe I fell for this nonsense . I paid 490$ for travel insurance through cheaopair . I got stranded in Toronto airport for 6 days along with my TWO KIDS with my flight being cancelled twice to get home to my final destination . I filed a claim and submitted 29 documents showing my expenses again for three people during 6 DAYS being in TORONTO ! What do I get as a reimbursement? 300$ freaking dollars . Not even the amount that I paid . The adjuster called me back to explain to me that my trip was delayed and not cancelled . In fact , it was cancelled twice before I advocated for my self in order to get rebooked and get on a flight that didn’t even take me to my final destination. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY

While traveling abroad, I had an accident and ended up damaging my tooth. While riding in the back of a bus, we hit a bump and I chipped my tooth. I had no means of reaching out to Travel Guard via email, chat, what's app, or any other online option (a common means of communication when travel abroad) My phone could not call out. It would have been helpful to at least have an email to be able to reach out to someone regarding this. Yesterday I just got my phone operable, a month later.

Dont get me wrong, they were great when you have direct telephone access. But what happens when one dont have direct phone access and have to rely on calls over wifi or text, or other wifi options? You are completely on your own.

If I could give this company 0 stars I truly would because that is what they deserve. PLEASE DO NOT USE THEM. My dad had booked a trip from Miami to Las Vegas and he booked it in July to September in August my grandfather had to get surgery for the same dates that the trip was scheduled for. I got in contact with the agency and they told me to go ahead and cancel the trip and make a claim and that it would get refunded in a couple of weeks. I file the claim August 8, 2025. I heard back from the claim adjuster on September 2nd, 2025. The claim adjuster said a completely different thing then the companies customer service. The adjuster said that he couldn’t receive a refund due to the surgery being foreseen. Do you think if he knew about the surgery he would book a trip for the same date as his fathers surgery and cancel it and loose money? On top of that the claim process is a lot you even have to submit documentation which is completely absurd.

AIG travel guard insurance is worthless. They don’t pay claims. Conversely Allianz travel insurance paid out the claim quickly. Same trip, different insurance for different parts.

went to hospital for a day while traveling internationally and submitted claim and with little hassle was paid the cost of the hospital. very happy with the service.

I had a terrible accident in Iceland and I am so thankful both my son and I bought the Travelguard insurance. Even after everything was paid, an unexpected charge came from the Iceland Red Coss for use of ambulances that doubled the original expense claimed. Thank God I had Travelguard. It gave me a piece of mind to focus on healing rather than all the bills piling up from my ankle being crushed under a snow mobile accident on Artic Adventures "Into the Glacier" Excursion. The Claims Adjuster Nathan was so easy to work with. I CANNOT RAVE ENOUGH ABOUT HOW GREAT Travel Guard travel Insurance is!!

I only received 50% of my money because they found a whole in their commitment to not refund it all. Court date was changed in Colorado… I live in Alabama. Sad business when you pay for insurance and find out it isn’t good enough.

Coverage options were okay, but the claim process took longer than expected.

I have been using Travel Guard for years, always hassle free, and less expensive than going through the Airlines insurance. When I did have a challenge once. Travel Guard handeled everything and the trip felt uninterupted. I would totally recommend Travel Guard for all your travels

Honestly what I thought was going to be difficult was not.I submitted my claim with all requested documents, it was quite hassle free my claim was approved and paid.
