It is certainly possible to teach Music online without a degree. That said, many of our teachers do have degrees in music, including both bachelors and masters. Likewise, some of our teachers have additional higher education studies focused on teaching.

In the US, we can see that on average our Music teachers charge $27.62 an hour, some of the highest rates on the platform. Indeed, average hourly rates of our US-based online Music teaching jobs are comparable to our online Acting teacher jobs, as well as our Algebra teacher jobs, which average $27.50 and $27.67 an hour respectively.

That said, there is considerable variation in rates charged. Globally, for example, we see Music teachers charging anything from $7 to $100 hourly.

Individual teacher’s monthly earnings are entirely dependent on the hourly rates they set, and the hours they choose to work in a particular month. Drawing from our internal statistics we can see that our US-based Music teachers working 0-10 hours a week earn, on average, $178 monthly. Those working 10-20 hours weekly earn a handsome monthly average of $1,990.

We urge our new teachers to master effective online teaching by practicing effective classroom time management, setting proactive student expectations, and making use of the many teaching resources available online. Likewise, we provide a range of resources to make sure our teachers feel comfortable before teaching their first class.
