The announcement comes as the “My Boo” performer prepares to headline the Super Bowl halftime show next week. In an interview with Good Morning America, Usher revealed that he is putting the spotlight on R&B for the much-anticipated performance and highlighting those who have inspired him. "I didn't start where I am now, and I didn't get there by myself," he said. "So, everybody that has been a part of it, I'm carrying them with me. All of my fans, my loved ones — the people who may have felt like they have been forgotten, they haven't. I'm carrying you right with me when I walk on that stage that night." Usher's Halftime Show Will Pay Homage to Black Artists of the Past: 'I'm Coming Through the Front Door with This One' Usher announced in September that he would headline the halftime show at the big event by sharing a video of himself receiving a phone call from Kim Kardashian telling him the news. Kristy Sparow/Getty “It’s an honor of a lifetime to finally check a Super Bowl performance off my bucket list," Usher said in a statement. "I can’t wait to bring the world a show unlike anything else they’ve seen from me before.” The R&B star continued: “Thank you to the fans and everyone who made this opportunity happen. I’ll see you real soon.” The news came just before Usher ended his My Way: The Las Vegas Residency run in December after 100 sold-out shows at Dolby Live at Park MGM.
