Not really, since, as Shade.Usher pointed out, the creator of "untumblrizing" was doing it to fuck with people, while the “tumblrizing” people are doing it as some sort of serious stand.

Oh give me a break. That's the same excuse 4chan uses every single time for every single thing that comes from there. It's always the same old "we were just trolling you idiots" excuse.

Wait, what original creator? As far as this article goes, the original creator hasn't been identified, and their intents are still not entirely clear.

The original image itself is pretty borderline on-the-nose when it comes to it being bait or not; I've seen lots of redesigns and, well, character designs in general do this for the sake of doing it.

I don't see how the author was pretending to be retarded. Looks like a bait. Means they knew exactly what they were getting into, and got the exact results they wanted. Which is people getting angry.

That's just it, though – pretending to be a complete idiot is just another form of bait.

That's for sure. This whole joke is…well, a joke. Characters don't have to look ugly to be realistic, nor do they always have to be realistic. By the same token, though, they don't always have to be idealized or sexy.
The whole idea of "un-Tumblrizing" something (or at least, the version that started this meme) is just as dumb as the thing it's poking fun at. That said, I've had some keks from a few iterations, so at least we got something good out of it.
