On July 2nd, 2019, Redditor mememan___ posted the image with the caption "When the deodorant says 48 hours but you drink it in 8 minutes" in /r/memes,[1] gaining over 35,000 points.

Over the following month, the joke spread across various subreddits. On July 9th, user Siemturbo posted an example captioned "When you fall down the stairs" in /r/memes[2] (shown below, left). User Banapple101 posted an edit of the original image in /r/dankmemes[3] on July 4th (shown below, right).

The format began trending again amid the rise of Stonks edits in late 2019 and early 2020. On December 26th, 2019, Redditor st-ar_plat-inum posted an example in /r/dankmemes[4] that gained over 33,000 points (shown below, left).
