Maluma's "Según Quién" is a song and music video released by Colombian singer Maluma about someone who mistakenly believes you still love them. Following its release in mid-August 2023, the song became a prominent TikTok sound on the platform, inspiring dance challenges (notably comprised of a series of hand movements or signs), fan edits, remixes and parody videos in late 2023.

Origin

On August 17th, 2023, Colombian singer Maluma released the official music video for his single "Según Quién," featuring Carin Leon. According to the songtell^[1] website, the track "addresses a toxic relationship and the misconceptions and rumors that can arise from it." The official video,^[2] uploaded to YouTube that same day (shown below), received more than 63 million views and 481,000 likes in three months.

Online, the music amassed a great number of interactions on TikTok,^[3] accumulating over 1.4 million videos on the platform as of mid-October 2023. Maluma uploaded a video^[4] on September 11th, 2023, joining the developing trend about his music (shown below, left), which amassed over 48 million plays and 2.8 million likes in a month. On September 15th, TikToker^[5] @dorisjocelyn posted a video doing the hand gesture trend (shown below, right), which amassed more than 25 million plays and 2.3 million likes in a month.

On October 7th, 2023, Maluma appeared as a guest on The Tonight Show hosted by Jimmy Fallon in which the host tried to do the TikTok dance and hand movements from the Colombian's trend. The clip was posted on X^[6] by the official @FallonTonight account, garnering over 47,000 views and 136 likes in three days (seen below).
