How do I change my MEGA password?

You can reset your password if you are still logged into your account in a web browser or in a MEGA app, or you have a backup of your recovery key. Your MEGA password is more than just a password – it unlocks your encryption key, without which your data is entirely unreadable.

Changing your password if you’re already logged in

In a desktop web browser

1. Click the main menu at the top right.
2. Click Settings.
3. Click Security.
4. Enter a new, secure password and confirm it.

In a mobile web browser

1. Tap the avatar menu at the top right.
2. Tap Change password.

In the desktop app

1. Open Settings from the three dot menu.
2. Click the Security tab.
3. Click Change password.

In the iOS app

1. Tap on your profile image at the top left.
2. Tap View and edit profile.
3. Tap Change password.

In the Android app

1. Tap the menu icon at the top left.
2. Tap My Account.
3. Tap the three dot menu.
4. Tap Change password.

4. Click Send.
5. Click the link in the email in your mailbox.
6. Enter your recovery key, or upload the key file.

2. Enter your account’s email address.
3. Tap Yes, I have my recovery key.
4. Tap Send.
