Longlegs looks like a supernatural Silence of the Lambs with a hint of Zodiac, and we could not be more excited. Written and directed by Osgood Perkins, it’s the story of a new FBI agent (Maika Monroe) who finds herself on the trail of a cryptic serial killer who calls themselves Longlegs.

That’s already a pretty bone-chilling description because what the hell does “Longlegs” mean? Is it like Slenderman? Are they a spider? Who knows. But with each piece of marketing, things get even more interesting. This latest trailer pulls the curtain back just a tiny bit more and while it doesn’t go so far as to reveal the creepy character, we know that voice from decades of movie watching. It’s the newest Spider-Man, Oscar-winner Nicolas Cage. Here’s the latest trailer for Longlegs, the new film from the son of Psycho star Anthony Perkins.

LONGLEGS | Official Trailer | In Theaters July 12

As we said, that’s a chilling, effective trailer. It doesn’t give away too much, but it’s just enough. And yet, as good as the trailer is, it’s almost not as weird and disturbing as the Bible quote (taken from the book of Revelation, of course) used as a film description in the press release: “And he had power to give a spirit to the image of the beast, and that the image of the beast should speak, and should cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.”

What. the. FUCK. Does. That. Mean????? Whatever it is, we can’t wait.

Longlegs opens July 12 and is certainly one of our most anticipated films of the summer. How about you?
