Amber Alert

The Amber Alert plan utilizes maximum public participation to recover a child in non-familial child abductions. In these situations, getting critical information out to as many people as possible as fast as possible is the best way to help bring about the child’s safe and swift return.

Working Together

The Amber plan enables law enforcement to collaborate with local broadcasters through an early warning system to alert the public when a child is in danger. The success of this plan depends on a cooperative agreement between two divisions of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS) – the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and Homeland Security Emergency Management, as well as the Minnesota Association of Broadcasters and Minnesota local, regional and state law enforcement agencies.

A Safe Return

It is hoped that this early warning, distributed by cell phone, the state radio and television Emergency Alert System (EAS) and the Minnesota Crime Alert Network, will lead to the safe return of Minnesota’s missing children.

Any time there is an active Amber Alert information will be posted on the BCA website home page and on BCA social media channels.
