Description

F5 Acess Application provides VPN feature and helps in secure connections.

The F5 Access app from F5 Networks secures and accelerates macOS device access to enterprise networks and applications using SSL VPN and optimization technologies.

F5 Access for macOS provides Layer 3 network access for the BIG-IP APM module. The F5 Access for macOS application is not a replacement for existing Edge Client. F5 Edge Client provides customers more capabilities around remote access and flexibility in branding and distribution while F5 Access for macOS is a thinner client for more simplicity and includes a macOS integrated UI. As a result users should consult their administrators to determine if this application is supported by your company’s F5 Access Policy Manager—Remote Access Server configuration.

Use of this application is subject to the End User License Agreement available at: https://cdn.f5.com/product/apm/apps/eula.html
By downloading and using the application, you agree to its terms.

Not a good MacOS citizen when it comes to the menu bar

Like most people using this app, we are required to use it for work. I generally have no complaints and it works fine, however I wish that the app did not use so much space in the MacOS menu bar. The menu bar should for all intensive purposes contain icons only, however the F5 Access application display both an icon and the static text "F5 Access", which serves no purpose other than to identify a poorly designed icon and take up valuable space in the MacOS menu bar. On a new MacBook Pro, which has a notch in the center of the menu bar, it is even less helpful. F5 needs to take another look at Apple's HID guidelines.

Works, needs an Apple Silicon (ARM) build

It's wild that we'll probably have M3 Macs before F5 can afford to recompile this app with Apple Silicon support.

It also has a bug if you're using web login where it will pop up a “WebLogout” window but does so with the window dimensions set to 0 so it looks like a bit of dirt on the screen until you use the mouse to resize the window. This window is unlabeled and has no controls so it's unclear what value the F5 developers thought it had.
