Overview

Cancers are complex disease entities that require multidisciplinary approach to care. Consequetly, strengthening the systems for cancer care services requires multisectoral engagement and a collaborative approach. Realizing this need, WHO has established the South-East Asia Cancer Grid (SEACanGrid) as a platform to foster collaboration and catalyze the efforts of countries in providing good quality cancer care to their populations.

SEACanGrid is constituted by key institutions providing cancer services in the countries as members upon nomination by the ministries of health. SEACanGrid aims to leverage the unique strengths of each of its individual member institution to support in building capacity of another fellow institution in the same or a different country. Each individual member is also expected to lead in scaling up cancer services in the geogrphic area that it represents. The areas of work will involve establishing uniform standards and resource adapted regimens for care, workforce capacity building, contributing to direct patient care, and driving policy changes among other things.
