Operational planning guidance to support country preparedness and response

COVID‑19 strategic preparedness and response

Overview

Building upon an updated assessment of country risk and vulnerability and the Strategy Update, the Updated Operational Guidelines serves as a practical guide outlining the public health and essential health services measures needed to prepare for and respond to COVID-19. This can be used to rapidly update existing COVID-19 national plans toward a fully collaborative and coordinated response to the pandemic, across the eight pillars of the public health response and a ninth pillar on maintaining essential health services and systems. This is facilitated by the COVID-19 Partners Platform which enables national authorities, UN Country teams and partners to jointly plan for these actions and resource needs, identify funding gaps and monitor progress against national plans.
