About the WHO Representative to Bangladesh

Dr Bardan is WHO Representative to Bangladesh since 21st of December 2017.

Prior to joining WHO in Bangladesh, Dr Bardan was the Regional Advisor and Team Lead for Country Health Emergency Preparedness and International Health Regulation at the WHO South East Asia Regional Office, New Delhi.

Before joining WHO, Dr Bardan was the Health Coordinator in Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and Public Health Officer in Sudan with UNICEF.

Dr Bardan has worked with WHO as an immunization expert in Pakistan and Indonesia.

Dr Bardan started his career as the Medical Officer in the Public Health Division of the Ministry of Health in Nepal in 1987 and later as Lecturer in the Community medicine department at the Institute of Medicine in Nepal before joining the UN in Fiji in 1993 as project officer. He is an accomplished result oriented manager.

Dr Bardan is a Medical Doctor and has accomplished his postgraduate in tropical medicine and hygiene at London University and has completed his master’s degree in Public Health from the National University of Singapore.

A Nepali national, Dr Bardan is married, with two children.
