Online violence against children

Online violence against children

One in three internet users globally is a child. Access to the internet offers many possibilities for children and young people and can foster learning, personal and professional skill development, creativity and participation in society. But it can also bear some risks such as exposure to online bullying or grooming for sexual purposes. While most instances of violence against children still occur in the settings where children live, learn or play, access to technology can pose new threats or alter forms of violence that are occurring in the physical world.
