- If I had a dime for every meeting that finishes in the next hour, that ends without a clear action plan and next steps, I would never need to work again. If we want better meetings, make sure when people close the meeting tool, they know what is happening next. To get that clear mutual understanding, you need a simple action plan. What, who, when, that is what you need in that post-meeting action plan. What is going to be done by who and by when? Keep it visual. Before the meeting starts prepare a simple slide with a three column table of what, who, and when as the headings. Keep it ready to share on screen and toggle to it when needed. Complete it as you go. As items are identified, type them into the action plan. You don't have to fill in all three columns during the flow of the meeting.
