- [Instructor] It's also necessary to measure some materials in square foot measurements such as ceiling tiles, drywall boards, and floor covering like carpet. This is normally a pretty easy task. You just measure the length and width of the material and enter them into the takeoff sheet. It should look something like this. I'm going to open a floor plan drawing from the Exercise Files. It's drawing AA6.01 Partial First Floor Finish Plan. I'll zoom into this Break Room 1203G. I would then use a scale to measure the width and length. Let's say this room was 12 foot wide by 10 feet long just for the ease of making a calculation. We know that 10 foot times 12 foot equal to 120 feet squared. Now I'll have to transpose that information to the takeoff sheet like so. Type in the item. Type in the quantity. We'll say maybe the price is $1.50. The unit of measurement here would be written down as SF for square foot. And then the Labor, take that from your labor publication and put it in the…
