Before the pandemic, a common response to hearing that I was a remote game writer was "it's like always being on vacation." When you work from home, you walk a tightrope between the pitfalls of distraction and burnout. I'm only a few feet away from my game consoles, my family, and a myriad of other distractions. Also, it's easy to fall into an "if I've got spare time, I may as well work" mindset that brings fatigue. What's helped me is establishing a routine to maintain consistency, designating a workplace with minimized distractions, and learning to take breaks—working from home doesn't mean you don't deserve them!
