Life coaching is based on the premise that you l provide your client a safe container , where they can express , emote and share freely ... to hold a space like that you need empathy, non judgement and understanding. Self Reflection is the primary tool to get you started on this journey, as some client sessions can be triggering in nature ... hold on your emotions and to be present at the same time comes with self awareness.

Please put on your oxygen mask first before helping others. It's important in life to introspect and even moreso when looking to help others. A few ways I recommend (and practice...sometimes) 1) Introspection and reflection - journaling on the day or recent time periods and how you’ve behaved in relation to your values 2) ID and understand your emotional triggers & how you respond (also good for journaling) 3) Set Personal Development Goals – improves your coaching skills and models the value of growth to clients 4) Systemize - seek feedback from peers and mentors to review & adjust 5) Practice Mindfulness - strengthens your self-awareness & your ability to be fully present for your clients.

It’s very simple. You’ve got to be willing to do the work yourself. If you haven’t or you don’t want to, coaching isn’t a career that you’re going to thrive in because you’ll be too busy listening to your clients through your lens and they will sense the inauthenticity. You’ve got to tell your own stories over and over again until you’ve worked through them , because truthfully that’s the only way that you’re going to avoid getting hooked and triggered by your clients. Know thyself is right!

Really helpful to fully realize your ability to help as a coach. - I enjoy a pre-session framing / state creation exercise with a mantra and physical anchor - post-session reflection helps reinforce strengths and ID areas for improvement - regular mindfulness helps prepare for the unexpected: meditation and breathwork Being present and in control sets coaches up for being able to deliver their best during sessions.

Mindfulness is always a part of my coaching practice. Regardless of what we’re working on creating, I start each session with several minutes of breath work and body scanning , done by my client. It’s a great way to get grounded quickly and if necessary I add some reiki to the mix. It may seem like a lot, but that ten minutes of mindfulness in a 45 minute session, reaps a huge harvest of creativity and inspiration , not just for the client but for me. You only get as good as you give, and my goal is to always create a loop of energy that’s moving fluidly and openly!

If growing up in your career is like stepping up on the stairs, self-awareness is when you know your RELATIVE POSITION on these stairs: you know where you are toward the final stair, no. of steps that you need to achieve and who is faster at the moment. Why “relative”? ‘Cause you need to remember that: when you move, others either move forward and vice versa. So, being aware of your relative position can help you overcome career crisis much more easier.
