1. identify the actual issue for an ineffective delegation outputs. Evaluate the communication process among the team for its effectiveness. Verify the assignment instructions for its completeness and clarity. Also verify the frequency of communication and any lack in collaboration. Discuss with the team members for their feedback. Find the root cause of the ineffectiveness.
The second step to deal with ineffective delegation is to address the issues and take corrective actions. Depending on the causes and the severity of the problem, you might need to redefine or reassign tasks or roles, clarify or revise expectations and objectives, provide more or less guidance, trust team members more or less, or adjust your level of involvement or oversight. Select an assignment for delegation and the team member to assign with best matching with the skills and competency of the member. Verify the existing process for improvement required if any to make the delegation more effective. Brainstorm improvement ideas from the team members.
