I'm not being hyperbolic with the title... okay, maybe a little, but this thing is absolutely essential for anyone who deals with a dry winter. I've had this thing for 2 winters now and it's fantastic. I typically only use it during the winter months because the spring/summer/fall where I live are humid enough, but it more than pays for itself during those hard dry months. I replace the filters at the start of every season and a set of filters lasts all winter (which is about 3 months where I live). Absolutely essential for winter survival. I bought a humidity sensor to go near my bed and this thing can raise the humidity level in a large bedroom by 15-20%, which is nothing to scoff at!

Its a love hate relationship. I really want them to do better.
I really really want to love Vornado and for them to succeed, but they have several design flaws that are extremely disappointing. Like were there no peer checks?1.) The tank design has been fine, it is see through and easy to fill on this unit, really one of my favorite parts of the design. Never any issues there. Looks nice.2.) The bottom of the until is just okay to clean. Really could have been made simpler with less corners and crack to dig into to clean. But that's not my main concern here.3.) Control, good. Easy. Don't need to change.4.) The fans location is poor design. All the humid air goes through the fan and the protective covers leading to mold growth in inaccessible places. POOR choice.5. The protective cover around the fan. Wow make it impossible to clean that, thank you very much. Let's put in specialty screws so that no one has that tool at home to clean it. That's a real *ick move. Shame on them big time. I get people messing around in the motor compartment isn't ideal, but it needs cleaning and there is no way to access it. Even qtips and wipes can't get in there. Top cover doesn't come off easily either. Should be easy, but it's terrible. See pictures.All in all, it works great to humidify my rooms (just buy the right damn wicks, the OEM didn't wick at all). But be prepared that like 99% of humidifiers, that it will be extremely stupidly designed for cleaning. Which should be one of the top design priorities of ALL humidifier designs.Also it kills off gnats if you have houseplants, which is good, but also gross. So that's nice pest control. I sincerely mean that it's a major benefit. Cleaning the bottom where they go to die isn't the worst thing ever.

I'm new to the realm of humidifiers, with this unit being the first I've ever used. I got the EV100 unit, as the room I'm in is fairly small (roughly 168 sqft).
I purchased a separate hygrometer (humidity meter) to verify the humidity of the room, and strongly suggest you do the same with any humidifier purchase.
As far as I can tell, it's dumping a good amount of water in the air. If run on high, I can easily go through a full gallon of water in a 24 hour period as the specs state! The ambient relative humidity here is roughly 22%, and the unit had no problem taking that over 50% in under 24 hours. I've since dialed that back, as it was too much, and water started appearing on my window.
As for noise, I love the white noise generated by smaller fans, and that is exactly what this sounds like. High is just slightly louder than low. I was initially disheartened by the blue LEDs on the unit as I am really sensitive to light at night, however, after roughly 20 seconds, the lights gradually dim to almost completely off. It hasn't seemed to disrupt my sleep!
The tank system is super slick, and really easy to fill. My room plants seem a lot happier too, and I've noticed the potting soil for them appears to stay visibily moist for several days more, now.
This thing has been super easy to use, and I love it a lot!! As other reviews have stated, the user manual is your friend. Read through it before operating the unit, and you should be pleased with the results.
