According to the figures compiled by the research firm comScore, Facebook is the largest social network amongst the major social networks. In June, Facebook had 132 million unique visitors, which makes it the fastest growing social network.

The comScore analysis shows that Facebook's visitor growth rate has shot up to 153% per annum, compared to Hi5 with 100%, Friendster with 50%, Orkut at 41%, Bebo at 32% and MySpace with merely 3%. Almost all of them have redesigned their interface to give their site a more Web 2.0 style look.

In terms of region-wise growth, Facebook has been rampaging amongst the rest of the world countries other than North America. One of the major causes for this growth has been Facebook's translation application, which translates the user's pages to different languages. The growth figures achieved were mind-boggling - 10,555% growth in Latin America, 458% in Asia Pacific and 403% in Middle East and Africa. Facebook needs to work lot in these regions like Japan to grab user attention.

The new Facebook is already working to make their platform open to developers to create interactive applications, which has become quite the trend amongst social networks.

These numbers indicate the number of unique visitors, and not active users on the website. Although the site tops the chart in terms of number of visitors, many are questioning the revenue performance of these visitors. However, Facebook needs to be careful with certain things, especially user security, as it may be headed for a fall after one bump.

I have heard this about many places, but i am always willing to give another place a try. I hope it isn't as bad as all the rest.
