Manage search & watch history

Your YouTube TV search and watch history makes it easy to find videos you recently watched and improves your recommendations on YouTube TV. You can delete or pause your search and watch history to remove videos from your history.

Pause your search & watch history

You can pause your watch or search history when you do not want your watches or searches to influence future recommendations and search results. For example, if you're researching a topic for a school project that you aren’t personally interested in. Remember to resume your history when you’re done.

Pause your search history

  1. Select your profile picture  and then Settings .
  2. Select Privacy .
  3. Toggle Pause search history.
Note: Pausing your search history will impact both YouTube TV and your YouTube search history.

Pause your watch history

  2. Select Privacy .
  3. Toggle Pause watch history.

Note: When you pause watch history, any videos that you watch won't show in history and won’t be used to improve your recommendations. You can unpause your history to start recording history again. Pausing your watch history will only impact YouTube TV. Your YouTube watch history will be unaffected.

Delete your search & watch history

If your recommendations aren't relevant to your interests, you can clear your search and watch histories.

If you want to improve your recommendations and search results, you can also mark TV show episodes as watched. Any episode(s) marked as watched will be automatically added to your watch history.

To mark a video as watched on a mobile device:

  1. Locate the TV show episode you want to mark as watched.
  2. Long press on that episode.
