Use Results Language Filter for Google Search

You can use the Results Language Filter to filter Google search results in different languages.

How the Results Language Filter works

By default, Google Search automatically determines what appears to be the most helpful language or languages to display results in. However, there are times when you may wish to explicitly filter results to a particular language or languages.

The Results Language Filter enables a control that allows you to filter web search results to one or more preferred languages.

Important: The Results Language Filter won’t appear if the only selected language is English. Language filtering may not work for some search features or if the language can’t be detected. Learn how Google determines the language of search results.

Get started with the Results Language Filter

  1. From a Google search, click Tools.
  2. Click Any language.
  3. Select your preferred language filter.

Change your Results Language Filter

Important: You can choose to filter results for more than one language, but the filter won’t work for them individually. For example, if you set the filter to French, Indonesian and Arabic, it will filter results to show all of those languages. It won’t filter to French, Indonesian or Arabic individually.

  1. On your computer, open Search settings.
  2. On the left, click Languages.
  3. Under "Results Language Filter", click Edit.
  4. Select your preferred languages.
  5. At the bottom, click Confirm.
