Get & remove apps on your watch

Download and use apps on your watch to do things like track your fitness, check the weather and make reservations.

To get or update apps, your watch must run Wear OS 2 or newer. Learn how to check your watch version

Important: The steps below are for Wear OS and may vary based on your manufacturer, device, and software version.

Get apps on your watch

You can download a variety of apps from the Google Play Store on your watch. Some apps work with a matching app on the phone that's connected to your watch.

Tip: Make sure your watch is connected to Wi-Fi or on LTE to search and download apps.

Add the apps you have on your phone

Apps on your phone don't automatically sync with your watch. To get apps from your phone onto your watch:

  1. If the screen is dim, tap it to wake up your watch.
  2. To see your list of apps, press the Power button.
  3. Scroll and tap Play Store Google Play. You'll be signed in with the Google Account you used to set up your watch.
  4. Scroll and look for the "Apps on your phone" section.
  5. To download the app, tap Install Install.

Add apps from your phone 

On your phone, find the watch apps you want to add with the search filters in the Play Store app. You can also find popular watch apps through the “Watch apps” and “Watch faces” category pages.

After you find a watch app you like, you can install the app on your watch directly from the Play Store app on your phone.

  1. On your phone, open the Play Store app Google Play.
  2. To find new categories, at the top, select the “Categories” tab.
  3. Tap Watch apps or Watch faces and choose the watch app or watch face you want to install. 
  4. To download the app or watch face on your watch, tap Install

Tip: To download the app to just your phone or to a different watch, tap the Down arrow Drop down arrow and select the device.

Add apps from your watch

  1. If the screen is dim, tap it to wake up your watch.
  2. To go to your list of apps, press the Power button.
  3. Scroll and tap Play Store Google Play. You'll be signed in with the Google Account you used to set up your watch.
  4. To search for an app, tap Search Search.
    • To speak your search, tap the Microphone Microphone.
    • To type your search, tap the Keyboard Keyboard.
  5. To download the app to your watch, tap Install Install.

Tip: Apps can vary depending on what kind of phone is connected to your watch.

Rate & review an app

  1. If the screen is dim, tap it to wake up your watch.
  2. To go to your list of apps, press the Power button.
  3. Scroll and tap Play Store Google Play. You'll be signed in with the Google Account you used to set up your watch.
  4. Tap the app that you want to review.
  5. Scroll to "Rate this app," tap how many stars you'd rate the app.
  6. To leave a review of the app, tap "Leave a review." You can choose to type or say the review.
  7. To save your review, tap Done Done
  8. To save your rating, tap Done Done.

Update or remove apps

  1. If the screen is dim, tap it to wake up your watch.
  2. To go to your list of apps, press the Power button.
  3. Scroll and tap Play Store Google Play.
  4. Swipe down from the top of the screen.
  5. Tap My Apps My Apps.
    • To remove an app: Tap the app, then scroll to the bottom and tap Uninstall Uninstall.
    • To update your apps: Under “Updates Available,” choose Update all or choose an app to update.

Get around the Play Store on your watch

  1. If the screen is dim, tap it to wake up your watch.
  2. To go to your list of apps, press the Power button.
  3. Scroll and tap Play Store Google Play.
  4. Swipe down from the top of the screen. From here, you can:
    • Change the account that's signed in: Tap Accounts Accounts.
    • See a list of your apps and search for others: Tap My Apps My Apps.
    • Go to the Play Store's main page: Tap Home Home.

Finish in-app watch purchases on your phone

To complete your payment when you make an in-app purchase on your watch, the Play Store opens a purchase page on your Android phone automatically.
