Understand data privacy for Google’s GSR/ISA app

In countries where European General Safety Regulations (GSR) apply, the Google General Safety Regulations/Intelligent Speed Assist (GSR/ISA) app is a system software for Android Automotive OS (AAOS) that enables Intelligent Speed Assist (ISA). Google collects data through the GSR/ISA app on behalf of the auto manufacturer who is the data controller. Therefore, the auto manufacturer’s specific privacy policy applies.

Tip: Your auto manufacturer’s privacy policy is available through your dealer.

About collected data

The Google GSR/ISA app uses location data to function. For example, it’ll determine the speed limit based on the vehicle’s location. These details aren’t sent to Google.

The app only collects details about its health, like:

  • App crashes
  • Key internal operations statistics
  • Usage like CPU and app memory

This data allows Google to discover and fix bugs, and is essential to the functioning of the app.
