Steps to take before you sell, give away, or trade in your Google Pixel Watch

Use these steps to remove your personal information from your Pixel Watch before giving the Watch to its new owner. We also recommend you delete your eSim from your watch to avoid access to your texts and phone calls. Erasing your eSIM is similar to removing a physical SIM from your phone.

Note: After you erase the eSIM, make sure that your Watch plan is canceled.

Before you sell, give away, or trade in your Pixel Watch

Step 1: Back up your Pixel Watch data

Back up your existing Watch

Before you make any changes, we recommend backing up your existing Pixel Watch so that settings and other data are saved.

Note: Backup can take up to a few days to complete so be sure to back up your Watch a few days before you begin the transfer process.

  1. Make sure your Watch is connected to Wi-Fi and place your Watch on its charger.
  2. On your phone, open the Google Pixel Watch app Google Pixel Watch.
  3. Tap Google and then Backup and then Turn on.

Step 2: Use the Watch‘s Settings menu to delete your data and eSIM from the Watch

Reset from your Google Pixel Watch's Settings menu

  1. Fully charge and power on your Google Pixel Watch.
  2. On Google Pixel Watch, swipe down and then tap Settings .
  3. Tap System.
  4. Scroll down and tap Disconnect & reset and then Select Erase eSIM and then Select Confirm

Important: Once you reset your watch to factory settings, all apps, settings, and data are erased. Make sure to back up all your data before you proceed.

Step 3: Connect and restore your backed up data to a new Watch

Connect a new Watch to your phone

  1. On your phone, open the Google Pixel Watch app Google Pixel Watch.
  2. If you've had a previously paired Watch, scroll up and tap the two watches icon called Show my devices and then Add watch.
  3. When you Set up Google Pixel Watch, select the backup you want to restore.
  4. If you had a passcode on your old Pixel Watch, enter it on your new Watch.
  5. Keep your new Watch on its charger and tap Ok. Your new Watch will automatically restore the apps, data, settings, watch face, and tiles that were set on your old Watch.
