Fix problems

Can't add my gift cards

  • The Google Pay app has limits in place for how many gift cards you can add.
  • Within 30 days, you can add up to 10 cards total and 5 cards per merchant.
  • If you have multiple gift cards for a single merchant, you could ask the merchant to consolidate all of your gift cards into one card.
  • Otherwise, to add more gift cards, you'll need to remove an existing one. Follow the steps above to remove a gift card.

Cashier can't scan card

If the cashier can’t scan your loyalty card or gift card:

  1. Clean your screen.
  2. Check for cracks over the barcode. If your screen is cracked, drag the barcode to another part of your screen.
  3. If the barcode still doesn’t scan, ask the cashier to enter the code directly into their register.

Uninstalled the Google Pay app & lost cards

If you uninstalled the Google Pay app, your gift cards and loyalty programs are still stored in your Google Account. To recover your gift cards and loyalty programs:

  1. Download the Google Pay app.
  2. Sign in the Google Account you used previously with Google Pay.

Your gift cards and loyalty programs will reappear in the app.

Loyalty card disappeared from Google Pay

Added card from Gmail

If you delete the email with the loyalty card, the pass is removed from Google Pay. If you delete a Gmail message, it stays in your trash for 30 days. Then, the email is deleted permanently.

If you still have the email, you can add the card again using the Google Pay app.

Added card another way

Your loyalty card might disappear if you:

  • Factory reset your device.
  • Remove your Google Account from your device.
  • Clear all data from Google Play services or Google Pay.

To use your cards with Google Pay, you need to add them to the app again.
