About this show

Starting over isn't easy, especially for small-town guy John Nolan who, after a life-altering incident, is pursuing his dream of being an LAPD officer. As the force's oldest rookie, he's met with skepticism from some higher-ups who see him as just a walking midlife crisis. If he can't keep up with the young cops and the criminals, he'll be risking lives including his own. But if he can use his life experience, determination and sense of humor to give him an edge, he may just become a success in this new chapter of his life.

Tries to humanize cops but tends to reinforce how imperfect of a job they do. They have alot of good moral preaching and then act boorish and privileged like many of cops now adays. particularly in episode 7 the ride along. How they approached the interaction with the mentally stunted African American man and his family showed real promise until they made the brother incapable of not seeing money and resorting to theft and violence. Hoping the writers stop typecasting later on.

It's a decent show...but season 3 is starting to lose me. I'm not liking how season 3 trivializes the progress that has been made against racism. Sure it's still around today, but the show seems to be preaching that racism today is just as bad as it was in the past...and that just makes me shake my head in disappointment at the showrunners and their lack of respect of what people had to sacrifice in order to get to the world we have today.

Ok to be honest. I had high hopes on this show as the trailer was awesome it seemed like it was going to be a good story and had great actors. but the first few episodes were good but not great. I kind of lost interest as some of the story lines seemed plastic. But i must say I just watched Episode 8 and 9.. Damn what a Roller Coaster of Feelings, Drama, Action and Emotions. I was really invested in the characters and its starting to feel real and interesting. I cant wait for the next episode!
