Über diesen Film

Directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man), based on Rudyard Kipling’s timeless stories and inspired by Disney’s classic animated film, The Jungle Book is a live-action epic adventure about Mowgli (newcomer Neel Sethi), a man-cub who’s been raised by a family of wolves. But Mowgli finds he’s no longer welcome in the jungle when fearsome tiger Shere Khan (voice of Idris Elba), who bears the scars of Man, promises to eliminate what he sees as a threat. Urged to abandon the only home he’s ever known, Mowgli embarks on a captivating journey of self-discovery, guided by panther-turned-stern-mentor Bagheera (voice of Ben Kingsley) and the free-spirited bear Baloo (voice of Bill Murray). Along the way, Mowgli encounters jungle creatures who don’t exactly have his best interests at heart, including Kaa (voice of Scarlett Johansson), a python whose seductive voice and gaze hypnotizes the man-cub, and the smooth-talking King Louie (voice of Christopher Walken), who tries to coerce Mowgli into giving up the secret to the elusive and deadly red flower: fire.

Too many things just didn't fit. Like throwing in snippets of songs from the cartoon. It's as if they were trying to make a movie that's more for an older crowd kid friendly as well, and they didn't succeed. The child was too amateur amongst all these great actors (their voices anyways). However, the CGI was fantastic, and I think Scarlett Johansson was a great Kaa. Her voice made the snake seem more sinister and I wish she was in more scenes.

The trailers made this seem like a grown-up rewrite of the original, but it's more of a unimaginative reshoot with too scary for kids CGI and an unemotional lead for adults. Mowgli consistency falls flat throughout the entire film regardless of the action being portrayed, a not too uncommon pitfall for such a heavily CGI character laiden film. It takes a skilled actor to behave believably in front of nothing, and this kid doesn't have it. There is a reason Mowgli is silent in all the trailers.

I thought the movie was cute. The animation and CGI made you feel as if you were really looking into a jungle with live animals. I also like the cast they sounded very close to the original. What I didn't like was the snake being a female I felt that although her voice was good just liked the snake more in the original. The story although similar they did a good job changing it up some to make it its own.
