Where the Crawdads Sing tells the story of Kya, an abandoned girl who raised herself to adulthood in the dangerous marshlands of North Carolina. For years, rumors of the “Marsh Girl” haunted Barkley Cove, isolating the sharp and resilient Kya from her community. Im not much on movies about females but I liked this movie. I could dentify with the marsh girl. I know the feeling of being the outsider, the persecuted one but my life was much worse. The time period made me think of my mother too, her struggles, feelings. It left us with a question. Who did it, was it an accident and the meaning of why she had the necklace in a book.

Excellent acting and a great movie. I was very moved by the narrative because I grew up with a violent and drunken father who occasionally beat my mother and us. I also grew up in a rural environment where I developed a strong bond with nature. It was incredibly amazing to watch how Kya brought the surrounding landscape to life and linked with it in such a spectacular way. In my opinion, it's one of the best movies I've seen this year.

From the title and the trailer and the cover I thought this was going to be preachy woke trash but the movie is actually an excellent drama with compelling characters, beautiful visuals, well written dialogue, superb acting and a great plot. One of the best movies I've seen this year.
