No. Just no. I simply can’t get past the horrible writing about an obsessive, compulsive, manipulative and controlling man child. These books were abhorrent. The characters are bland and dull.. the dialog is forced to the point where i think the author simply wants to narrate the whole book. Boring and talentless Bella immediately falls for an abusive vampire because he WANTS her to. How does he get her to do anything? From meeting his family to running in the woods he uses not charm or trust building conversation... but good vampire skills of “dazzling” someone into doing what he wants. He then quickly becomes himself, stalking her, watching her sleep, forcing his own “protective” decisions on her... And Bella?? I guess i can’t blame her for thinking she loved him but her reactions to EVERYTHING he confessed to her were either childishly ignorant, desperate or just plain embarrassing. This is so unrealistic (getting the irony of the whole vampire thing) and cyclical I’m so bored with Edward ENDLESSLY beating himself up for being a monster, but then being what humans would consider a human monster... manipulative, controlling... Don’t waste your money hoping this would be a sliver better than the books. It’s more of the same garbage on different pages.

It was a good read and I appreciated the view from Edward's perspective. However, I found myself a bit bored through things I already knew and experienced. I've never been on Team Edward, as it were, and this book just solidifies my standing. I will read any future books (as I'm sure they're coming) but Edward is an angsty boy who doesn't really appeal to my adult mind. Good book, but it wasn't anything I wasn't already expecting.

Loved it! I've been waiting for years, just like so many others, to finally see the whole first book through Edward's eyes. There was a little dip mid-book, that was a little tedious. It had me worried for a bit, but it quickly recovered and the remainder was amazing. Definitely worth the wait and I truly hope there will be more to come.
