A prequel to The Wheel of Time detailing the adventures of Moiraine as a young "Aes Sedai". Very well written and it stays a little more true to a one shot, cohesive story than some of Robert Jordans more epic work. This books answers some questions put forth in the main series. Well worth the read though I would recommend it to be read after The Fires of Heaven as a flashback. However, it can be read as a true prologue as well.

happy to have read it. the story was bloated. could've been told in a lot less pages. wouldn't recommend to anyone who isn't already a fan of wheel of time.

Mr. Jordan does very well with character development. I felt like I could identify with some characters and observe others. I think that is what makes his stories so immersive. Even the horses had character.
About the author
ROBERT JORDAN (1948-2007) is best known for his internationally bestselling epic fantasy series The Wheel of Time®, which has sold over 40 million copies in North America and is currently being adapted for the screen. A native of Charleston, Jordan graduated from The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, with a degree in physics. He served two tours in Vietnam with the U.S. Army and received multiple decorations for his service.
