About this ebook

Winner of the Hugo Award!

In A Psalm for the Wild-Built, bestselling Becky Chambers's delightful new Monk and Robot series, gives us hope for the future.

It's been centuries since the robots of Panga gained self-awareness and laid down their tools; centuries since they wandered, en masse, into the wilderness, never to be seen again; centuries since they faded into myth and urban legend.

One day, the life of a tea monk is upended by the arrival of a robot, there to honor the old promise of checking in. The robot cannot go back until the question of "what do people need?" is answered.

But the answer to that question depends on who you ask, and how.

They're going to need to ask it a lot.

Becky Chambers's new series asks: in a world where people have what they want, does having more matter?

Nice story but very short for the price. Ended abruptly. My rating is more about the length and price than the content. It's chill, even relaxing. No major conflicts. Some philosophizing about life. Wish it was longer.

I took my time reading A Psalm for the Wild-Built, only reading a chapter or two a day. For that, I am grateful, as I was able to sit and ruminate on the characters, world, thoughts, and concepts presented throughout this book. I laughed with, cried, felt sorry, excited for, and connected with both monk and robot. Even before I finished it, I was in love with the tone and themes presented in this book. I was recommending it to any who would listen. The devotion Becky writes for this is perfectly apt in summing up who would enjoy this story. "For anybody that could use a break" And if we are being honest with ourselves, that's all of us. Do yourself a favor, find the time to brew your favorite cup of tea, or beverage of choice, sit down and take that well-deserved break and read this book. Now if you tell yourself "I can't right now, so much is going on." That's ok, deal with the things going on in your life. But eventually, find the strength to do both, you won't regret it.

I loved this story, the characters, the environment. All of it. This was an incredibly soothing read. In light of just *everything* that's been going on in the world, in people's lives, how our society sometimes feels settled into being, all of that - this just feels like a delicious cup of warm tea while sitting in a hanging basket chair during an autumn afternoon. I could see myself reading this again simply to make myself feel better.
