About this ebook

Adrian Tchaikovsky's Arthur C. Clarke Award-winning novel Children of Time is the epic story of humanity's battle for survival on a terraformed planet.

Who will inherit this new Earth?

The last remnants of the human race left a dying Earth, desperate to find a new home among the stars. Following in the footsteps of their ancestors, they discover the greatest treasure of the past age—a world terraformed and prepared for human life.

But all is not right in this new Eden. In the long years since the planet was abandoned, the work of its architects has borne disastrous fruit. The planet is not waiting for them, pristine and unoccupied. New masters have turned it from a refuge into mankind's worst nightmare.

Now two civilizations are on a collision course, both testing the boundaries of what they will do to survive. As the fate of humanity hangs in the balance, who are the true heirs of this new Earth?

this book was epic. I've read two titles by this guy, in short succession, and man does he deliver. this book really strings you along through a complex web of sci Fi concepts, that are fleshed out, to near believability, through the author's clear understanding of the cosmos' awesome scale and complexity! I'm not a book critic or literature expert, but I feel the author not only expertly spins tales of evolving society over the ages of space flight, technological leaps, and the like, but has a masterful command of making real characters that you love and hate accordingly. I didn't get just a dose of sci-fi, but romance, tragedy, hope, imagination, struggle, perseverance and much more, all intertwined across a beautifully planned tapestry of storytelling that ensnares the reader and leaves them stuck to every line.. on the page.

Loved this book! Really fun sci-fi, and specifically found the story of creative evolution of a species very well thought out and intriguing. Tchaikovsky has a way with writing interesting worlds, and doesn't fail here. I did find the storyline about the arkship a tad tedious at times, but overall loved the story and thought the growing tension of all the storylines was built up very well

I've never been so interested in the lives and thoughts of spiders. Exceptional story that kept me very much engaged and gave me a lot to think about afterwards, my wife read it and loved it as well and made some very poignant observations that were fascinating. This author thinks outside the box in their stories and his non-conventional perspective makes it a hard book to put down.
