About this audiobook

Geralt the Witcher—revered and hated—holds the line against the monsters plaguing humanity in this collection of adventures, the first chapter in Andrzej Sapkowski’s groundbreaking epic fantasy series that inspired the hit Netflix show and the blockbuster video games.

Geralt is a Witcher, a man whose magic powers, enhanced by long training and a mysterious elixir, have made him a brilliant fighter and a merciless hunter. Yet he is no ordinary killer. His sole purpose: to destroy the monsters that plague the world.

But not everything monstrous-looking is evil and not everything fair is good . . . and in every fairy tale there is a grain of truth.

Well, I have to say that I like the game and the Netflix series better, that might change the more that I read of the series. I know that the book came first but I have to say that Hollywood really did a good job with it.This is still a very good book and I strongly recommend it. I have no regrets about purchasing it, as I enjoyed it a great deal. I read a lot of the reviews before purchasing The last wish and by what I read I was afraid that it was going to be a cluster F of jumping back and forth between memories and events but it wasn't, the storyline is very easy to follow. I will be purchasing the second book very soon, I can't wait, I am a very big fan of the series.

This is really a collection of short stories that seem to be based heavily on various fairy tails we all know. Not super exciting to me. Yet listening to this I loved it. It is written very well and Gerralt was consistent and very interesting throughout. Alot of bigger themes are explored even though the individual stories are straightforward . . . or are they :) Lots of fun, toss a coin to your Witcher.

Geralt's accent is unnecessary and a little odd considering we are so used to his voice from the game and even the show. But maybe that's unfair. Otherwise the performance is great and I'm actually quite a fan of the narrator from other audiobooks (he also narrates Ian M Banks "The Culture " which I love )
